 Yesterday- with a new insulating box built around it, half filled with vermiculite to help keep the heat in.  It needs two more bags of vermiculite, and a roof on top, and a few more finishing touches to be complete.

Livinia has been asking everyday if we can make pizza for the wood oven, but this is reserved for Sunday nights.  I've been making the dough in the morning, leaving it to rise for a couple of hours, then putting it in the fridge.  The soaking of the flour seems to make it more digestible for me.  And I use half spelt flour.  The recipe is the magic bread dough from River Cottage Veg Everyday, and it's the best pizza dough recipe I've found.

New couch

A new couch arrived this morning. It's a bit bigger than I thought it would be! We bought it with vouchers that Andrew is given at work when he does a really good job (or something), it's nice to be able to put all the vouchers together and get something big that we can all share. It was getting a little cramped with all 4 of us squished onto the 2 seater (the new one is a 2.5 seater), and the buffet and hutch that previously occupied the space seemed a bit imposing on a small room, though it was good for storage. Now we need to put something on the wall behind the couch, I'd love some of these from Bonnie & Neil. Ampersand cushion is from Aunty Cookie.

Cuttin' down on plastic

I've been gradually culling our plastic food containers, and replacing them with either pyrex, or stainless steel. I've never been a fan of cling wrap either, so I don't think we'll buy any more when our current roll runs out- probably a few years! I think we're onto our 3rd roll since we've been married (6 years now) We pretty much have only wooden or cloth toys, so it was a relief when all the worries of pthalates and BPA, lead etc in toys came to light, but made me want to reduce the amount of plastic in the kitchen. It's just a shame that a lot of food from the supermarket comes in plastic, I'm keeping an eye out more for food in glass jars, which makes the food safer, but also gives you a reusable container.
I just had to show a pic of a basket I picked up at the Salvo's yesterday- I always look at the baskets when I go to an op shop, mostly, they're crappy ones, but this one was a score. And yes, I lugged it home while pushing the girls in the pusher :) I might use it for dress ups and playsilks.
