Market sewing

I'm making final preparations for my markets this weekend, yes I'm now doing two, one Saturday (school), one Sunday (kinder).  I've made a few of these doily skirts, up to girls size 8-9.  I'll have plenty of bargains on offer, so hopefully it will be a busy weekend!

Off to Maia's Market

Just making my final preparations for Maia's Market (this Saturday, 10-4 at Potter St, Geelong West).  I haven't done a market since November, and I'm really looking forward to it.  There will be a suitcase full of goodies on sale this time, as I clear out items to make way for more upcycled clothing.  See you there!

Big shop update

Just a selection of what I've put in my Etsy shop so far, with just a few more to go.  The Ashby market is all over now, and this is some of what's left.  A great (and busy!) day was had at the market, with lots of people stopping by to take a look.

3 more sleeps

 3 more sleeps until the Ashby Primary School Market Day.  1 more sleep until Andrew comes home from a 10 day work trip to the USA and UK.  Yay, I'm a little tired of solo parenting right now!

 I think this is the last item I will be making for the market.  Another tablecloth dress in size 5 this time.  It was a gorgeous cream linen tablecloth with subtle lemon and mint green embroidery, begging to be made into a dress.  I've used a reproduction cotton print in vintage yellow with little flowers on it for the back and sleeves.  This is one way to make bigger sized tablecloth dresses- tablecloths aren't always big enough for bigger dresses unfortunately.  I meant to cut this one out as a size 6, but had started cutting when I realised I was cutting a size 5.  Oh well.

After I said I don't find nice tablecloths very often, of course I find a few.   Maybe people are having a bit of a spring clean and declutter.

Making for the Moriac Market

I've been busy making about 8 pairs of quick change trousers, which are reversible, and one dress, as I was a little low on size 5 dresses. I'll be bringing these with me to the Moriac makers and growers market on Sunday, from 9am-2pm.

One more sleep...

...until Ecofest. There have been some crazy amounts of sewing going on here lately, what with In.cube8r, Ecofest, and then 2 weeks ago I signed up for a market stall at our kinder's family fun day, which is on Sunday. So Ecofest tomorrow, and another market the day after- exciting, but I'll be glad when it's all over! I made 6 skirts on Tuesday (Melbourne Cup day- Andrew was home), and another 4 yesterday, as well as being on kinder duty in the morning. So it's off to the second of 6 school orientations this morning, then up to the church to set up for Ecofest. Gotta love this time of year!

Steiner school spring fair

A lovely day again at the Freshwater Creek Steiner school's spring fair. A bit of an overcast rainy day didn't dampen enthusiasm, and we brought home a few handmade treats. Bec, your mushroom baby seems to have gone a little broody. Bec's bee brooch is in the background there too. Very cute!

Maia's Market

Wow, what a busy, and very successful day yesterday at Maia's Market! This photo doesn't show my whole stall very well, with the rack you can only see part of in the front there, but it was the busiest part
of my stall, and I came home with only about half of it left! It was the most sales I've ever done in a day, with lots of positive feedback. This market had a really nice vibe to it, and I hope to be part of it again. The market is run by a local school girl and her mum, raising funds for a children's home in the Philippines, they do a fantastic job.

Echino pants for Maia's Market

I've been making up a few Echino pants for Maia's Market (less than 2 weeks to go now). I love Echino fabric, and I think the linen/cotton blend is perfect for little pants and I will have a few skirts too. They are all sized 2+, being full length at about 2 years of age, and becoming cropped as the child grows.

Don't you love the colours?

I found Evie giving her doll a go on a flying fox. Kids come up with the funniest things! The doll's hands are pushed into the ends of a coat hanger, and she's tied some wool between her bed and a drawer handle.

Winter's nest skirt

I'm just playing around with a few ideas for women's skirts for an upcoming market. This is today's effort (amongst all the Christmas preparations), the Winter's nest skirt, made from charcoal denim, and a screen printed panel by Kristen Doran. This one is a size 12.

A great day at Maia's

We had a great day at Maia's Market yesterday, it rained most of the day, which probably slowed things down a little, but nonetheless, we had lots of people come to have a look, and do a little Christmas shopping, all for a good cause. I've started uploading skirts onto Etsy, and there will be some upcycled kids pants up soon.

I've made two new women's skirts for Maia's Market tomorrow, I was hoping to make a third one, but I think I'll run out of time. This design is in size 10 and 12, and will be uploaded on Etsy if they don't sell.

This Saturday, the 30th of October, Bec & I will be selling our wares at Maia's Market, in Potter St, Geelong West from 10am-4pm.

I've been busy sewing 12 new skirts, in Heather Ross' Far Far Away 2 range, with cute fairytale prints.
There's Rapunzel (my favourite, in 3 colour ways), Sleeping Beauty, and the Owl & the Pussycat. Plus a sneaky little Echino peacock print. I'm also working on a few adult sized skirts, I hope to have them finished in time.
