The sweet scent of lavender...

Evie's Boo coat

I just love this coat from Belle & Boo, it really suits Evie, and she loves it too. She needed it on this cool late autumn afternoon.

Evie's on the Belle & Boo blog

My smock top made with Belle & Boo fabric was featured on the Belle & Boo blog yesterday, very exciting. Evie is modelling it, but the photo is just the back of her. Scroll down to the end of this post. Thanks Mandy!

The next (pro) carbon tax rally...

Will be held on Sunday the 5th of June at the State Library (Melbourne) at 11am. The battle is not yet won, I plan to be there to show my support.

A little bit of sewing

Echino Grassy Plains dress

I've been able to do a little bit of sewing over the last few days- the bathroom had taken over my laundry (sewing) room while it was being renovated, things are slowly getting back to normal. I've sold quite a few pieces from my Etsy shop over the last few weeks, so I thought a little restock was in order. 2 new dresses in size 5, and there's also another pair of the kangaroow paw upcycled pants that sold very quickly last time. I also had my women's mushroom skirt featured in this cute treasury.

Bathroom update

Slowly getting there, the vanity is there for show at the moment, nothing is plumbed yet, and doors/shelves still to go in. This week the floor grouting was finished, and the shower screen was installed. Like my Country Road mosaic towels? $15 for the set at the op shop. It only had one bath towel though, but was able to buy another matching one at Myer for $40 (!) Ah well, complete set for $55. Very nice quality, made in Australia, and no fluff.

Happy mother's day

I got to spend the morning with my girls before we had a wedding in Melbourne yesterday, a stroll down to the local shopping strip to buy a newspaper, before packing bags so the girls could have a sleep over at nana and pa's house. We got home after midnight, waaaay past my bed time. My eyes are feeling a little heavy right now. I'm amazed at how solidly I slept for 5 hours before the sun came up. No children in the house, plus a head cold. I'm glad the girls are home now though, it was a long day without them.
My mother's day gift, a new clutch to take to the wedding.

I hope all you lovely mums had a great day yesterday!

Shades of red and aqua

Liv's new Chook Leaf shoes
Ink & Spindle birch forest lamp shade

Lots of people like the combination of red and aqua, it's bright, happy, and has a bit of a retro vibe about it I guess. There's a flickr group dedicated to this colour combination. The shoes are pretty sweet too.
Yesterday, we were in Melbourne for my uncle's funeral. On the way home, we stopped in the city to pick up this lamp shade, that I ordered about a week before Christmas. It was finally ready for pick-up just before Easter, but with Andrew being at home doing bathroom renovations, we hadn't had a chance to go and get it. It was for my 30th birthday in January, worth the wait!

Ottoman or pouffe?

I completed this little project over the Easter weekend whilst the bathroom renovations was going on. I have been meaning to reupholster this for about 3 years or so, but was inspired by this one by Patch Andi, so set about cutting up my Ink & Spindle (and a few Yardage design) fabrics. Apart from a few wrinkles, I'm pretty happy with the outcome. I made a cushion to match, but I plan to make a second one, then I might put some pics up of the 2 cushions. More pics of the bathroom once we put the vanity in- might be a while before the bathroom is complete, but we have a functioning shower and bath now :)
