New top in the shop

I made this top for Liv yesterday, and I had enough fabric to make another one in size 1, now in my Etsy shop. It's made from Anna Maria Horner's "Little Folks" fabric range, in the softest voile. Poor Livinia doesn't get many clothes made by me, just hand me downs from Evie.

Are you kidding me?

Have you seen this? It's Palmolive's new campaign to get everyone using shower gel instead of 'dirty' soap. Because unless you live by yourself, you don't know where your soap has been, and that's apparently quite disgusting. OMG! disgusting germs and hair in your soap. I'll take my soap with its lack of carcinogens and packaging over some awful synthetically fragranced soap gel any day. And just so you know, I don't stick soap bars up MY bum, do you? I also don't wash my face with it. The sad thing is, people will fall for it.

We have a toddler!

Livinia has become upwardly mobile the last few days, a few steps here and there. Last night she really went for it, she waited until daddy came home from Brisbane luckily. She was very proud of herself by the look on her face, I remember that look on Evie a few years ago.

Cuttin' down on plastic

I've been gradually culling our plastic food containers, and replacing them with either pyrex, or stainless steel. I've never been a fan of cling wrap either, so I don't think we'll buy any more when our current roll runs out- probably a few years! I think we're onto our 3rd roll since we've been married (6 years now) We pretty much have only wooden or cloth toys, so it was a relief when all the worries of pthalates and BPA, lead etc in toys came to light, but made me want to reduce the amount of plastic in the kitchen. It's just a shame that a lot of food from the supermarket comes in plastic, I'm keeping an eye out more for food in glass jars, which makes the food safer, but also gives you a reusable container.
I just had to show a pic of a basket I picked up at the Salvo's yesterday- I always look at the baskets when I go to an op shop, mostly, they're crappy ones, but this one was a score. And yes, I lugged it home while pushing the girls in the pusher :) I might use it for dress ups and playsilks.
