New blanket dresses
I've been working on some new blanket dresses this week, from a beautiful woollen blanket in purple, green and yellow. It reminds me of Easter colours. I had the perfect little collection of vintage doilies to go with it too. They are all now in the shop.
Today, I'm featured on Handmade Kids Meet the Maker series, check it out!

Organic cotton flannelette nighties
Once again I'm sewing winter gear in summer, but that's ok, our Northern Hemisphere friends are enjoying winter at the moment. I've just updated my shop with some new organic cotton nighties, to go with the upcycled ones. You can find them here.

Shop update
I've been working on a few new summer dresses since my very busy market weekend nearly 2 weeks ago. The shop needed a little restock, so most of these dresses are ready to be custom made, up to girls size 8.

Shop update
Copious amounts of kid free time today led to a bit of sewing, baking, cleaning, and a major shop update. I've had a few items waiting to be uploaded to the shop, but with windy weather which is no good for taking photos, and waiting for more sew on labels to arrive (not yet!), I thought I'd do it all today while I had some uninterrupted time. I also rearranged my shop sections to better reflect the emphasis on upcycled items, but there's more work to do on that as my shop transitions over to entirely upcycled.

Haven't seen these in a while
I haven't made these smock tops in a while, I thought it would be fun to make a couple out of woollen blankets, and line them with vintage bed sheets. I think they turned out pretty well, and this style still fits Liv- she wants to keep one! These two are in my shop now.

Upcycled tablecloth dress in shop
I found this beautiful little cross stitched tablecloth in an op shop on Saturday, I had to wash it straight away so it could be made into a little dress. It would have to be my favourite so far, in excellent condition. It's a size 5, and now in the shop. It's time for a little shop restock, I've sold out of a lot of items in the past month.

Big Little upcycled coat
I bought this upcycled blanket coat embroidered with dandelions a while ago from Big Little, and have been meaning to share photos. Well, it's finally cold enough to wear a woolly coat, so here's my super model wearing the delightful warm coat. Thanks Lisa!

Cooling down
More winter woollies for the cool weather that's on its way. Two blanket dresses one size 2, one size 4, with pink poppy embroidered doileys on the front. Thanks Ali for letting me know about the blanket! Also one more vest in size 3. The tan colour looks better in real life, looks a little khaki in the photo. Now in the shop

April snippets
Can't believe it's been a whole month since I last posted! Now that it's school holidays, I can have a think about what I've been doing apart from going back and forth between school, kinder and home. I've been making a few winter inspired upcycled garments such as the flannelette nightie above.
A trip to the Garden of St Erth on Monday (and lunch at Red Beard in Trentham) resulted in a new dwarf golden delicious apple tree, 2 female kiwi vines (the one we planted in spring didn't make it through summer), and a few packets of seed and garlic. All our garlic is now in the garden.
Picking big sweet juicy apples from our big apple tree.
The Easter weekend's efforts- spreading manure over a big patch of our back lawn. It had lots of patches of no grass, and very sandy soil, so it was time for repair. I'd love a chook tractor at some point, so this is "pasture", not lawn. It's pretty stinky at the moment. Most of our garden got a manure treatment too.A trip to the Garden of St Erth on Monday (and lunch at Red Beard in Trentham) resulted in a new dwarf golden delicious apple tree, 2 female kiwi vines (the one we planted in spring didn't make it through summer), and a few packets of seed and garlic. Broad beans (crimson flowered) and snow peas popping up in the teepee.

30% off in the shop
I'm having a new year sale to make room for new beginnings. I'm thinking about going completely upcycled, phasing out new fabrics. This process will take a while, but in the meantime, enjoy 30% off in my Etsy shop this week, with the code NY2013.

Upcycled vests
Not sure why I feel the need to make woollies in Summer, but when I find a nice blanket or woolly jumper as I did recently, the brain ticks over with ideas of what to make, then I HAVE to do it. I'm happy with the way these have turned out, they're now in my Etsy shop.

Big shop update
Just a selection of what I've put in my Etsy shop so far, with just a few more to go. The Ashby market is all over now, and this is some of what's left. A great (and busy!) day was had at the market, with lots of people stopping by to take a look.

Upcycled christening dress
When I saw a European sized pillow case in an op shop, I thought it would be perfect for a little girl's christening/baptism/naming day/flower girl dress. It has lovely white on white embroidery, and is simple, not too frou frou. I only just squeezed the pieces out of the pillow slip, lucky, I didn't want to have to find white fabric for the sleeves to match. I don't have any white fabric in the house, and I'm sure it would be hard to match whites perfectly. Anyway, it's size 1, and in the shop now.

Upcycled vests
I've been playing around with a few souvenir tea towels, and made some little vests. I've made a few tea towel pinafores in the past, but I think these work quite well. In the shop now.

Shop update
Upcycled pinafore size 2
Echino skirt size 6-8
Echino pants size 2
Bunting skirts, size 2-3 and 4-5
It's been a while since I did a shop update, but I've had a few sales this week, so I thought it was time for a freshen up. Some of this stock was made for markets, but I hadn't got around to listing them. They're in my shop now.
