End of day one
The 10 panels are up, and they'll be back in the morning to install the inverter, and put the cables through the roof.
It's solar day

Winter's nest skirt
I'm just playing around with a few ideas for women's skirts for an upcoming market. This is today's effort (amongst all the Christmas preparations), the Winter's nest skirt, made from charcoal denim, and a screen printed panel by Kristen Doran. This one is a size 12.

New wardrobe!
We had a wardrobe installed in the girls room today, I'm so excited to have space to put things away now! I had planned to start filling it this afternoon, but the installer said to wait until Sunday morning so all the sealants can dry properly. Now I just have to stop the girls from slamming the doors etc, so it CAN dry properly! And the doors will be painted this summer.
Myer Christmas windows 2010
We had a day in Melbourne yesterday to look at the Myer Christmas windows, as we do most years. For those unfamiliar with the Myer windows, they have a narrator that tells a story, and each window is a scene from a book, and it has moving puppets. They are quite magical, especially for children. This year's story was the Nutcracker.

Belle & Boo fabric
Here's what I made with my Belle & Boo craft pack- 2 peasant tops for the girls. Very cute print, but I do not wish to sew with silky fabric again anytime soon! I'm very much a cotton and linen girl.

Ethical shoes
On the topic of ethical clothing, here we have some ethical shoes. These are my new Ish Shoes, that I bought with my earnings from my market stall at Ecofest. They are handmade in Barongarook, a little over an hour from here. They are made from soft leather, which moulds and stretches over your foot as you wear them. They felt a bit tight when I first wore them, but now they are quite comfy. You can have them made to order in all sorts of styles and colour combinations, it's fun to choose. Evie had similar ones last year in a metallic aubergine colour, with silver flowers on them, and they were very durable for kids feet, we will be able to pass them on to Livinia when she's a little bigger. They are also competitively priced, with kids shoes around $35 plus postage if you can't get to their showroom or a market they sell at.

Ethical menswear
I was just thinking that Andrew needs a new shirt for Christmas, and wondering where I'd get one ethically made (much too time consuming to make one myself!) I thought I'd check in at Eternal Creation, as I'd always hoped they'd branch out into menswear, and guess what? They have! So Andrew has an outfit coming his way for Christmas, even though he doesn't like getting clothes for Christmas (too boring!) They have 25% off everything that isn't already reduced today only, and are very reasonably priced. Don't worry Andrew, we will find you some little surprises too :)

Belle and Boo wall art
My little Belle and Boo Lost cut out postcard arrived today, with 3 postcards- you cut out the little "lost" girl and her duck, attach ribbon or string to the back of them, then pop them up on a wall, and peg up some gorgeous postcards. Voila. More cute wall art without having to drill holes in concrete walls.

Belle and Boo love
We received a gorgeous package from Belle & Boo yesterday, including an outfit for Evie, and a Boo wall sticker (gotta love wall art that you can just stick on rather than get out the masonry drill to get through the concrete walls!) I'd like to get the girls a print each for Christmas as I'm decorating their room at the moment, ready for them to share when Liv gets her own bed. A built in robe will be coming soon, very excited!

Blueberries and spring dresses
And this little pretty is now in the shop, I don't normally do such floral numbers, but this one reminded me of Cath Kidston's style, and springtime.

The blanket dress
I saw these gorgeous vintage Waverley woollen mills blankets (from Tasmania) in an op shop earlier this week, and thought they needed to come home with me. And they did. I'll probably keep one to use as a blanket, and the other one I have cut up to make these. They are so nice and warm, like wearing a coat. It was nice and cosy sewing with these on my lap! I love the colours, and giant buttons are my favourite. They are now in my shop for custom order.

A great day at Maia's
We had a great day at Maia's Market yesterday, it rained most of the day, which probably slowed things down a little, but nonetheless, we had lots of people come to have a look, and do a little Christmas shopping, all for a good cause. I've started uploading skirts onto Etsy, and there will be some upcycled kids pants up soon.

Maia's Market sewing
This Saturday, the 30th of October, Bec & I will be selling our wares at Maia's Market, in Potter St, Geelong West from 10am-4pm.
I've been busy sewing 12 new skirts, in Heather Ross' Far Far Away 2 range, with cute fairytale prints. There's Rapunzel (my favourite, in 3 colour ways), Sleeping Beauty, and the Owl & the Pussycat. Plus a sneaky little Echino peacock print. I'm also working on a few adult sized skirts, I hope to have them finished in time.
